︎ Josh Powell
Josh’s work is based on trauma and how we hide our trauma through layers. We can’t always see the horrible experiences one goes through because it tends to hide on the inside and is decorated with a form of make up. His pots are based on the ideology that you can hide your trauma, but the damage is in your subconscious.
Josh created his pieces by experimenting with gravity, “dropping the raw clay on the floor” and allowing the clay to become one by becoming apart of the clay when it’s being manipulated.
